Wearing a helmet puts cyclists at risk, suggests research
There are serious questions about the protective value of the helmets in and of themselves, one being the increased sense of invincibility on the part of the cyclist. This study seems to show the flip side of that phenomena.
Technology ignores the human factor in it's implementation at it's own (and the humans) peril.
Bicyclists who wear protective helmets are more likely to be struck by passing vehicles, new research suggests. Drivers pass closer when overtaking cyclists wearing helmets than when overtaking bare-headed cyclists, increasing the risk of a collision, the research has found.
