Thousands rally in La. to support Jena 6

Imagine the reverse situation: six white teens pound a black classmate to a bloody pulp. I guarantee that the same people would be there protesting for the exact opposite result, demanding that the six offenders stay in jail and be charged with a hate crime.

AP - Traffic jammed the two-lane road leading into the tiny town of Jena early Thursday as thousands of demonstrators gathered in support of six black teens initially charged with attempted murder in the beating of a white classmate.

And lets not gloss over the racism here, if you lived every second of your life with someone shitting on you and the very real threat that you could be beaten or killed just for being black, you'd lash out too! I really wasn't commenting on the guilt (or innocence) of the "Jena 6" - I was commenting on the propensity of this particular crowd of "protesters" (read: politicians, as in Al "Tawana" Sharpton) to *only* protest this kind of treatment when the accused are minorities. If white kids were in the same jail on the same charges, does anyone honestly think that Rev. Al or Jesse would've shown up to protest? Sorry, folks - call it "middle age white guy angst" if you will, or "backlash" if you must, but I'll stand by my initial comments and call these protesters what they are: hypocritical pols abusing a tragedy to advance their own agendas. It is indefensible that six men (or boys) should jump one person, regardless of whether those people are black, Asian, white, Hispanic, etc. There is such a thing as free speech in this fine country, meaning that you can say very nasty things to people. People need to get a thicker skin and get the f*ck over it. Seriously. Calling someone a nigger is not a crime, but getting 5 of your closest buddies together and jumping that person is. End of story. And the people that ganged up and whomped on this kid should be punished to the fullest extent of the law, skin color nonwithstanding. I've been called some seriously horrendous names in my life, and I have also had people threaten me. However, I did not go and get all my buddies to go beat the crap out of the person who did it. Whatever happened to sticks and stones... Whiny black people piss me off! Slavery happened. Sorry. You are not the first race to be oppressed, nor will you be the last, unfortunately. Get the f*ck over it.
