Well, he was also responsible for my favorite cartoon dog of all time: Muttley! The snicker, the self-hugging and the unintelligible mumble ... what was there not to love about this aeronautical pup? RIP, Mr. Takamoto, your creations will live on forever.

Iwao Takamoto, the US animator responsible for cartoon dogs Scooby-Doo and Muttley, dies in Los Angeles.
