Getting Back Into the Swing

of the corporate world. Or at least, I think I am. It's been quite a week of culture shock, that's for sure: the folks I work with are really nice people, but I think they're as puzzled by me as I am by them, culturally speaking.

But I'm getting back into the routine, with a few added twists. I get up at 5:30, drink coffe and feed the dogs, then feed and water the chickens, fill the tank in the east paddock (which is not permanently hooked up to a supply in the winter) and then scurry back in to slop down another quick cuppa Joe, and off on the commute by 7:30.

This week I've been trying to leave the office by 5:05, as I have to drive up to Dulls and take care of the critters before I go home. Once I get home, I feed the dogs, then go feed and water the chickens and gather eggs. Let the dogs out to do their business, and then in for dinner. About 7:30. Long days.

But I'll bring the crew home from the tree farm on Monday, so that should cut an hour off my working time, which will be a blessing.

Hel, reading over this I'm not so sure it's been culture shock at all: it could just be exhaustion.

Notes: If you put a <mailto:> link in the URL field your address will not be mangled: this could be a bad idea as your email address could be easily harvested by bots designed for SPAM. The comments field should now format correctly for line feeds and carriage returns: when you hit the 'Enter' or 'Return' keys in your comment it should break to a new line. The text should wrap cleanly. Please let me know if it doesn't. No HTML tags will pass through - entering links seems to be the main cause of comment SPAM. Also, please be sure that Javascript is enabled in your browser before attempting to post a writeback. Sorry for any inconvenience, but this really helps cut down on the amount of comment SPAM I have to deal with.
