was spent eating corned beef and cabbage and watching the Lord of the Rings Extended Edition DVD's - all three of them, back to back. And not much posting takes place while the One Ring is on the way to Mordor - hopefully I can catch up tomorrow...

We have done this each New Year's eve since the extended editions came out, although we prefer summer sausage and cheeses to corned beef and cabbage, with Stewart's soda for kids and Guinness for me. But because the children always outlast the adults during the marathon all-nighter, this year we watched them over two nights. Finally, my wife and I were awake and alert to watch the Rohirrim descend on the orcs on the Pelennor Fields (my favorite scene). Why two nights, not three? 'Cause there was must-see hockey game on Friday. Next year: three nights...and three feasts.

What an AWESOME way to bring in the New Year! Sitting through all of them, back-to-back would be no problem for me...what would stop me from doing this would be my wife, who is no fan of Tolkien or Peter Jackson's interpretation of Tolkien ;)
