RadioShack CEO Quits Amid Resume Questions

I just don't understand the people who do this - and it seems to be happening with increasing frequency. Do they think they can just tell such a blatant public lie and not get called on it in this media driven culture?

For the record, I'm a high school dropout, with a GED and about 50 hours towards a history degree. Which explains why I made programming a career, and then switched to agriculture when my job went offshore. Right?

I think you hit the nail on the head Dave. Our culture has only in the past 20 years become so media intensive. I think there always was resume' padding by the same percentage of unscrupulous people... or those with enough misguided self confidence to decide they could figure out any job. High profile folks can no longer avoid the spot light of their own ill gotten success. I do feel a bit disloyal saying this. My dad was a talented heavy equipment operator. When he entered the job force in the 30's the technological changes for heavy equipment used to build roads, buildings, pipelines, etc. was moving at a very fast pace. My dad told me when a prospective employer asked my father if he had operated a new piece of equipment my dad would always say he had even though in a few cases this was not the case. Dad was good enough at his job he could figure out the new equipment as he did the job. Remember this was during the depression. My dad's lie was the difference between having a job and not having a job. Having said all that resume' padding is a lie and a lie is a lie.
