Church Says Girls' Communion Not Valid (AP)

Remember the Bush White House statement last November about "heartless heathens"? Well, it seems as though they need to look a bit closer to their own religious homes to find true heartlessness...

For the record, I've served cidar in blot and sumble to alcoholics, despite the call of the lore for mead or ale. Heathens will go out of their way to make sure the feast contains something for everyone - gluten free just isn't a problem with us. We seem to be more into the spirit of the thing, if I can take a jab at my Catholic neighbors, rather than the letter of the law.

Hopefully the girl will get wiser from this - there are more than a few kindreds in the Garden State that would welcome her.

AP - An 8-year-old girl who suffers from a rare digestive disorder and cannot eat wheat has had her first Holy Communion declared invalid because the wafer contained no wheat, violating Roman Catholic doctrine.

Notes: If you put a <mailto:> link in the URL field your address will not be mangled: this could be a bad idea as your email address could be easily harvested by bots designed for SPAM. The comments field should now format correctly for line feeds and carriage returns: when you hit the 'Enter' or 'Return' keys in your comment it should break to a new line. The text should wrap cleanly. Please let me know if it doesn't. No HTML tags will pass through - entering links seems to be the main cause of comment SPAM. Also, please be sure that Javascript is enabled in your browser before attempting to post a writeback. Sorry for any inconvenience, but this really helps cut down on the amount of comment SPAM I have to deal with.
