Amish Farmer Says Milk Law Opposes Beliefs

Free market? Forget it! You gotta love this bit'o'nonsense:

"You can't just give milk away to someone other then yourself. It's a violation of the law," said LeeAnne Mizer, spokeswoman for the Ohio Department of Agriculture.

His farm was licensed and inspected, he'd even set his folks up as cow-share customers, too, where the folks who get the milk own a part of the cow. But to no avail - the Nanny State had to step in to protect us from ourselves again.

Qui bono? The American Dairy Association and it's member farms factories, perhaps?

Given the political opposition to treating citizens as adults in this country, I wouldn't give his case an ice cubes chance in a a barbecue pit.

Arlie Stutzman was busted in a rare sting when an undercover agent bought raw milk from the Amish dairy farmer in an unlabeled container.

Notes: If you put a <mailto:> link in the URL field your address will not be mangled: this could be a bad idea as your email address could be easily harvested by bots designed for SPAM. The comments field should now format correctly for line feeds and carriage returns: when you hit the 'Enter' or 'Return' keys in your comment it should break to a new line. The text should wrap cleanly. Please let me know if it doesn't. No HTML tags will pass through - entering links seems to be the main cause of comment SPAM. Also, please be sure that Javascript is enabled in your browser before attempting to post a writeback. Sorry for any inconvenience, but this really helps cut down on the amount of comment SPAM I have to deal with.
