Record shops: Used CDs? Ihre Papiere, bitte!

Has the RIAA no shame? Have they no brain? Do these morons realize the ultimate implications of this attack? How long before the concept of private, personal property disappears entirely, replaced by leaseholds and licenses?

There are a few things lawmakers have decided really ought to be handled with the "care and oversight" that only the government can provide: e.g., tax collection, radioactive materials, biohazards, guns, and CDs. CDs? No, I'm not talking about financial Certificates of Deposit, though that might make more sense. I'm talking about Compact Discs.

Congress puts curbs on Mexican trucks

Ya know, maybe it's just me, but I always supposed that the proposition called "free trade" was a two way street: a "you give me access to your markets, and I'll give you access to mine." sort of thing.

Obviously, I was mistaken. For this Administration, it's a "I'll give you access to my markets no matter what you do." sort of thing.

Maybe that's "free" in some sense, but it sure as Hel isn't fair in any sense.

The House voted overwhelmingly Tuesday to delay a Bush administration plan to allow Mexican trucks full access to U.S. highways.
The trucks would have to be declared safe first, the lawmakers said, and Mexico would have to give U.S. truckers the same access south of the border.
