We brought Mom home late Friday - there's nothing else they can do for her surgically as her blockages are all behind the already installed stents, and the surgeons feel that at her age, open heart would kill her. They're probably right, and the last thing she needs is another operation and more pain.
I keep hearing all these marvelous stats about [disease] being the number [rank] cause of "preventable death". And yet for all our bluster and technology, what death is truely preventable? And how much of modern culture is predicated on the illusion that each of us will live forver?
We won't.
