Tobacco Kills

From The New York Times:

A bouncer at a bar on Manhattan's Lower East Side was fatally stabbed early yesterday during a fight that broke out after he asked two patrons to put out their cigarettes, the police said.

The bouncer's brother blamed a ban on smoking in restaurants and bars that went into effect two weeks ago for the death, calling his brother, Dana Blake, "the first casualty" of New York City's new law.

'Nuff said! Here's the link.

Earth Calling the Monopoly

An interesting bit by a musician who's convinced that the RIAA engineered the decline in sales to stomp out digital file swapping. And I must admit, after following the links in which he analyzes the sales stats provided by the RIAA, he does have a point ...

All day outside
I'm gonna make this quick entry and then off to the shower!

Kevin brought over two nanny goats today to add to the menagerie. Noisy little gals - they're still bleating to beat hell and they been here for about 12 hours! Oh well, they'll get quiet, eventually.

Planted two rose bushes, fixed a treellis and a high outside light and erected the flagpole - a fifteen footer that we'd taken down last year for easier yard access by vehicles. It was also leaning considerably, which we fixed today. Even ran into Wal-Mart and got a flag.

Hammer has integrated into the new "herd" very well - perhaps too well. He wouldn't come back into the barn tonight - I think it may have been a tactical error to let him lose us as "his" herd. He'll be untrainable if things keep going like this, but that's a job for tomorrow.

OK - there. I've made my entry, and so far haven't missed a day. Gotta keep that streak going for another week or so, when I take off to a moot and will no doubt miss two days. Oh well.
