Organic farming just as productive as conventional [Science Blog]
Here's the abstract:
Scientists from the University of Minnesota demonstrated yields of corn and soybeans were only minimally reduced when organic production practices were utilized as compared with conventional production practices. After factoring in production costs, net returns between the two production strategies were equivalent.
I guess my only comment would be "Well, duh!" And eventually, as oil prices rise, the more natural methods will offer better net returns - and that is, after all, the bottom line.

Greenspan Examines the Economics of IP [Slashdot]
and raises more questions than he provides answers. But they are good questions, and when the Chairman of the Fed addresses these issues, it behooves us to take some notice.
